Wool for Wildlife

Wool for Wildlife is our wool sweater donation program

How it works:

You donate wool garments ( sweaters mainly, coats, scarves, skirts, fabric) so long as it is between 70% and 100% wool to Shades of Hope, then I buy these items from them.

I get the raw materials I need to produce my mittens and they get CASH.The most valuable asset a charity can have. And you get a place to donate knowing your items have a brand new life ahead of them.

When you are cleaning out your closets, check the tags of all your garments (between 70% and 100% wool), you may have a gold mine of items waiting for Shades of Hope.

  • Coats
  • Jackets
  • Sweaters
  • Fabric ( minimum 12"x12")
  • Balls of wool ( check the fiber content on the label)
  • Scarves
  • Skirts
  • Dresses

Condition: This is the best part almost any condition is usable, provided it does not look like swiss cheese it can be processed and refreshed into a brand new purpose. Spilled paint on the sleeve, yes we can use that. Tore a hole in the elbow, yes we can use that. Oops I shrunk the sweater, yes we can use that too.

If the labe is what is needed and your not sure of the condition donate it, and we will sort out its purpose.

Our local charity partner is Shades of Hope Wildlife Refuge. They are located right here in the same small town as Cozy Mitts by Lorraine, Pefferlaw Ontario. They care for sick and injured wildlife from all over Ontario, nurse them back to health and then release them where they were found.

This is my chosen charity as they are a part of my small town and a valuable resource for our wildlife. Animals of all kinds have always held a very special place in my heart.
